Anti-Russian policy as primary objective and raison d'etre of the independent Ukraine

    Author: Veronika Krasheninnikova, no comments

Members of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada intend to make Ukrainians call Russia “Moscovia”. The bill is introduced to the parliament’s agenda.

Nowadays as well as two years ago anti-Russian rhetoric and policy is the core and almost the exclusive component of Kiev regime’s foreign policy. How comes it? There are historical and political reasons for that.

Firstly, Ukrainian statehood and identity have never existed in history. This fact finds one more proof in the bill that suggests calling Russia using the word “Moscovia” and Kiev - “Russia” and “Rus”. The words “Russia” and “Rus”, in the opinion of bill’s authors, derive from Ukraine’s historic name. Therefore, MPs in Kiev confirm themselves that Ukraine has no other historical basis for its identity but a connection with Russia and being a part of Russia’s space.

Secondly, in the current power balance at the international stage, anti-Russian and Russophobia policies are the primary objective and raison d’etre of the independent Ukraine.  The main purpose of bringing Kiev regime to power and providing support for it by the United States is to convert Ukraine in an anti-Russian foothold, including a military dimension. That’s the only value of Ukraine for Washington.

I can’t define the US position better than senator McCain, so I would like to cite a port of his speech made at the Munich security conference earlier in February: “Some say Ukraine cannot defeat Russia militarily. That is the wrong question. The right question is: If we help Ukrainians increase the military cost to the Russian forces that have invaded their country, how long can Putin sustain a war that he tells his people is not happening? That is why we must provide defensive arms to Ukraine”.

That was the only remark by McCain about Ukraine.

It is worth mentioning the latest news regarding the trial against Ukrainian lieutenant Savchenko. The court found her guilty of involvement in the deaths of two or more persons, in attempted homicide motivated by political hatred, as well as of illegal crossing of the State border of Russia. The court sentenced Savchenko to 22 years in jail. During the trial Savchenko adopted a defiant attitude due to presence of Ukrainian media in the court. It is to be reminded that Russian media are banned from entering Ukraine. The trial is yet another propagandist occasion for Kiev.

Savchenko herself has long ago been converted into an instrument for propaganda. Political manifestations devoted to her are permanently held in Kiev as well as in Washington. Moreover, an idea is being design to initiate a so-called “Savchenko List” similarly with the Magnitsky List and other sanction lists. It has to be said that the West risks to get lost in its lists soon.

Kiev and Washington have decided to make Savchenko a hero. They haven’t found anyone better. They don’t have other heroes. Like regime, like heroes.

To sum up, anti-Russian rhetoric and Kiev’s policy derives from historical absence of national identity distinctive from the Russian one sufficiently enough to found its own statehood. The less identity Kiev has, the more aggressive and furious its attempts to fill this vacuum. The main reason consists in political demand of Washington and Western countries intending to convert Ukraine in an anti-Russian foothold.

Contrary to Kiev, Luhansk and Donetsk popular republics do not have any problems with self-determination and identity. The republics continue great traditions of fight against Nazism – it is in Luhansk region where “Young Guard” acted during the Great Patriotic War. Luhansk and Donetsk also carry on glorious labor traditions – Stakhanov also lived here. That is why they will win.
